About the Author

The Author and ThorcitoOn September 16, 2010, my husband returned from a two week vacation with his family in South America.  His flight arrived at 11 p.m. and I had gone to pick him up from the airport.  We were home for ten minutes when I realized he was not wearing his wedding ring.  When I inquired about the location of his ring, he announced that while he was in Colombia he had been telling his family members that he was going to be getting a divorce.  I was so humiliated, angry, and scared words don’t convey the emotions that went through me in that moment.

I could sit around feeling sorry for myself, or I could get on with my life.   I had already spent way too many evenings waiting for him to come home. Stressed out over our relationship, I had spent too much time eating and drinking carbs, mostly red wine, and gaining 80 pounds over the course of our marriage.  I could lay around feeling sorry for myself, but I had already given enough of myself to this man.

Several sessions with a therapist later, I decided I could make the most of this new opportunity.  My therapist suggested that I start dating again.  Hence the name of this blog.  So, I put my big girl panties on, and I’m getting back out there.  I am an overweight, 43 year-old, soon-to-be divorced mother of three sons, and I’m taking no prisoners.

If you would like to read My Dating Prescription from the beginning, start here.

I hope you enjoy my comeback as much as I do.

That was the first time I’ve ever read any of my work in front of a crowd. I’ve had other blogs, but this one has the most focused theme. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.

You’ve made an excellent start. I wish you all the best and I’ll be peering in (in a non-creepystalker way) to see how well you do and what wonderful times you have.
A fan,

Hi, I found your latest post (about number 22) very entertaining! I write a blog about dating, relationships, mishaps, etc. and was wondering if you would like to write a guest post for me. I think my readers would enjoy your humor too! Here’s the link to the blog trint.me/blog Please email me at annesophie.bousset@gmail.com to let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Such a coincidence that I found your blog! I did not have a way to contact you after I quit my job and lost all my contacts on my phone (an unfortunate incident involving a cup of coffee), but always wondered about you. Pardon me for just leaving my initial here as I’m weird about these things, but my boring e-mail address should make it quite easy to identify me. It would be nice to hear from you if you still remember me after all these years. In any case, I wish you all the best. Take care.

Wilma, this is SUCH a cool blog, and what an inspiration! Oh my gosh, I started reading one post* and can’t stop. Thank you so much for the recent follow, and I REALLY look forward to getting to know you better 🙂

*I started with “Gonna Fly Now” – I thought it was so funny/bizarre that I also decided to lose weight last year and also had exactly 88 lbs. I wanted to lose.

Thank you, Jules. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. The very first post is call The Prescription, so if you haven’t read how this all started, you may want to go to that post first. You can find links to it through the word “here” on the upper right sidebar and on the About the Author page. Thanks again for the compliment. I’m looking forward to reading more from you too.

I am a content writer and while doing research for a positive article on pit bulls came across your blog.

You are a fantastic writer, it is as if you are sitting across from me and telling a story. I only have had time to read a few of your posts, but some had me laughing out loud.

I love your outlook on life and know that you and Thor and some guy yet not blogged about will have a fantastic life. I am selective about the number of blogs I read as I am often pressed for time. But, I have subscribed to yours and plan on reading it with my morning coffee.
